How to build a MFC factory
This article mentions the impregnation line and melamine press required to set up an MFC plant and gives suggestions based on different situations.

# How to build a MFC factory
MFC stands for melamine-faced chipboard. It is widely used for office furniture such as desks, workstations, cabinets, and pedestals. Common panel thicknesses include 18 mm and 25 mm.
Basic Production Concept
MFC is made by laminating melamine-impregnated decorative paper onto plain chipboard (or particleboard/MDF). To start an MFC factory, you can either:
1. Buy melamine paper and plain boards, then laminate only. 2. Produce melamine paper in-house and then laminate.

Route A: Buy Raw Materials and Laminate
If you plan to buy raw melamine paper and plain chipboard, the core equipment is a short-cycle laminating press.
Short Cycle Laminating Press
DP-series 900T~3400T full-automatic laminating presses are widely used for laminating melamine paper onto MDF, particleboard, and plywood. Typical maximum speed is up to 120 pcs/hour with common sizes such as 4'x8', 4'x9', 5'x8', 6'x8', 6'x9', 7'x9', 6'x12', and 8'x14'.
Route B: Produce Melamine Paper In-House
If you plan to produce melamine paper and plain board by yourself, you typically need:
1. Impregnation line (for decorative paper treatment). 2. Board production line. 3. Short-cycle laminating press.
Impregnation Line
An impregnation line is used for impregnating and drying decorative paper, balance paper, wear-resistant paper, and HPL surface/core paper using melamine resin, modified melamine systems, or urea-formaldehyde systems.
Chipboard Production Line
Because chipboard production requires high investment, many new plants start by purchasing plain board from external suppliers and focus first on lamination.
Practical Startup Suggestion
A low-risk startup path is:
1. Start with purchased board + purchased melamine paper. 2. Run one stable short-cycle press line first. 3. Add impregnation capacity after demand is proven.
As a professional woodworking machinery supplier, we provide short-cycle laminating presses, impregnation lines, and HPL press solutions for both domestic and overseas markets.
